I believe that using spellchecker has its
advantages and disadvantages. One
of it disadvantage is that it makes me lazier regarding knowing how the word is
spelled when learning new vocabulary. Honestly, lately when I learn new word, I
do not care so much about how it is spelled because I know when I write it the
spellchecker will corrected for me. Another disadvantage is that sometime it
misses words that are incorrect at a specific context, like if I write, “form” instead of “from”.
Although these are some drawbacks of spellchecker, I am strongly in favor of
spellchecker. Since English is my second language, spellchecker is something
essential for me. When I get the red line under the same word for more than two
times, I will start focus on that word and learn how it is spelled. Thus, even
if I did not learn the correct spelling form the first time, after few times I
will know exactly how to spell it. In addition, spellchecker allows me to
finish my work faster. Without it I have to go back and forth between my
writing and the dictionary, which will take a lot of time and effort. Moreover,
spell checker allows who struggles with spelling to
express him/herself more clearly.
